Fresh ad on JBT recruitment to be issued in August

A fresh advertisement will be issued in the first week of August inviting applications for the recruitment of 653 Junior Basic Teachers (JBT) in Chandigarh, as was decided in a meeting of the executive committee of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Society on Wednesday.
The Indian ExpressAn advertisement inviting applications for 220 posts of Trained Graduate Teachers will also be issued.
“The recruitment process will take 4-5 months,” said Director, Public Instructions, Upkar Singh.
In response to a writ petition filed by 53 candidates, on July 17, the High Court of Punjab and Haryana had directed the Chandigarh administration to withdraw the earlier advertisement issued on March 13.
While advocate APS Shergill, counsel for the petitioners, had leveled allegations against the Chandigarh Administration for trying to accommodate its favorites from Punjab and Haryana in the administration by ‘illegally’ allowing them to compete for the posts of JBT teachers, an official in the Education Department describes it as ‘a question of misinterpretation, for which legal assistance was sought’.
The National Council for Teachers’ Eligibility has stipulated that in case a state government or Union Territory decides not to conduct a Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET), a school in that state/ UT will consider the TET conducted by the central government. The earlier advertisement by the SSA Society for the recruitment of JBT teachers on contract basis till March 2013 had mentioned in its required qualifications that the candidate must have qualified in the TET conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi or by the state government of Punjab and Haryana.
